making the web work for you

What we do, or try to do is simply help people to make the web work for them.

It’s important to understand that a website can serve a multitude of purposes and people and organisations that own them can be just as wide and diverse.

What we do is look at the individual, group or company and just ask ‘what do you want from the internet?’ and then thing ‘what could the internet do for you’.

Take a look at ALM Training Services.

(This was posted 8 months, 3 weeks, 1 day, 17 hours, 37 minutes's ago.)

ALM Training Services are an independently owned training company that offers a multitude of industrial and commercial training services.

They are conveniently based at the Riverside Business Centre in Tilbury Essex. Courses range from forklift truck training to skills training such as plumbing and plastering.

We developed in conjunction with Baseline Creative a great brand for them and then designed their website.

The site is designed to give them visibility for the services they offer, allowing them to promote each and every course.

Edward Lloyd Trust

(This was posted 8 months, 3 weeks, 2 days, 3 hours, 15 minutes's ago.)

The Edward Lloyd Trust are a charity based in Newcastle that supports people with learning disabilities.

Since 1988 they have been committed to providing lifelong care for people with learning disabilities through individual support and independent supported living houses throughout the North East of England.

Thinking Virtually was asked to create a website that would present the Trust as they are, professional, caring and supportive. We worked with Baseline Creative to develop the overall design and then refined the design so that it best fit the needs of the trust.

The site is built on ExpressionEngine and benefits from a simple zoom feature as well as full short-key support.

The site was built to be WCAG/DDA/W3C compliant as well as easy to use by the team.

We build a great number of websites but I have to be honest and say that this is one of my personal favorites. The team at Edward Lloyd Trust are really nice and the support and services they provide are great.

Take a look at their website and see if there is any way you too can get involved.

NRSB Website - Take a Look!

(This was posted 8 months, 3 weeks, 3 days, 3 hours, 5 minutes's ago.)

Earlier this year we sent the NRSB website live. The project was split between the design talents of Baseline Creative and the development skills of Thinking Virtually.

The brief from NRSB was that they wanted a website that they could administer, that was eye catching but that was something their people they support could use.

They gave us the BBC website as an example... they wanted different colour options, a zoom facility and a text only version of the site. It also had to be as compliant as it could be with W3C web standards and WCAG/DDA standards for accessibility.

The result is a website that in the main is fully compliant with web standards, that has great technical benefits such as the zoom, different colour options and the text only site – but more than this it is also eye catching, it draws the browser into the site to find out more and more and more.

We would like to thank Baseline Creative for giving us the opportunity to work on this project and NRSB for setting the standard for a really engaging website.
