I want an iPad and I want one now...

(This was posted 6 months, 13 hours, 40 minutes's ago.)

iDavid wants an iPad.

This looks so cool, it looks like a bigger, better itouch (or iPhone if thats what you have...).

Watching the promo video was honestly the first time I have ever thought I can see the end of the PC dominance!

I can see the scenario where apple devices like this mean that the MAC environment won’t be so alien to us – watch out Microsoft...

And the prices, it could well be in the UK for little more than £300... either that or we will all just buy from the US!

Online blog suggest we could have it as soon as March, I think it’s a little way off yet but I know what I want for Christmas 2010!

So click here to add your name to the list of people that want one of these puppies!

An updated website for Jo Curtis

(This was posted 6 months, 14 hours, 7 minutes's ago.)

The new Jo Curtis Photographer website is now live!

Jo Curtis is a photographer based in Southend that produces great wedding photography, portrait photography as well as baby photography and corporate photography.

Last year we built her a lovely new website and have done bit and pieces of updates and changes for her but this change is probably the best.

We have tried to refine the design a little; when you see it you will understand that there is very little to refine... We have made the administration easier, given her the ability to update her blog and have that flow through to her Facebook and twitter accounts and have added a captcha feature to her contact form.

All in all the website has always looked great (I think) but Jo understands that nothing stands still and small changes keep things fresh and avoid the need for major redevelopment.

Jo is a lovely person and a great photographer, good luck Jo.

PS. Here is a link to her website: http://www.jocurtisphotographer.co.uk

Save money and Taste London...

(This was posted 6 months, 2 days, 5 hours, 9 minutes's ago.)

OK, clearly I am a bit of a geek and a fan of the iPhone. This is something however that can seriously save you money!

My wife works in the centre of town (London) and has been given for testing a card from Taste London. Basically what you get is 50% off or buy 1 get 1 free in restaurants that are members of the scheme.

I didn’t believe it and don’t expect you will straight away

I was a real sceptic but my wife saved something like £40 on a recent work lunch – and the more I read about it the more stories like that I have read.

And the best bit...

They have a funky app for the iPhone that shows you restaurants that are signed up to the scheme in your vicinity.

So if I’m in London and click on the app it will show me a list of restaurants that I can use the card at, it will tell me their address, telephone number and distance from me!

Ok, ok, we are not all based in London...

I’m told that the scheme is going to go national, right now if I put in Southend I get restaurants offering the discounts, the same for many areas.

The Cost?

It seems that a single membership is £70 per year but I am told that there are corporate cards available that start from £30 per year... don’t quote me on that but that’s what I have heard!

Where to find out more?

Simple, if you have an iPhone just look for the tastelondon app, its free and will tell you who is on the scheme wherever you are based. Otherwise go to their website: www.tastelondon.co.uk.

Have fun!

Analytics App for iPhone and iPod Touch

(This was posted 6 months, 3 days, 17 hours, 51 minutes's ago.)

I found a new application on ITunes that I really like and think every small business owner (with an iPhone) should definitely look at.

It’s simple really, it’s your Google Analytics reports live on your iPhone.

The Analytics App gives you access to your Google Analytics data whenever you have a spare minute. Google Analytics will email reports to you and it is extreamly easy to use anyway; but this puts it in your hand – at your finger tips whenever you want it.

You can get it from ITunes or read more about it by visiting the Analytics for iPhone website: www.analyticsapp.com.

Web Users and the Future

(This was posted 6 months, 6 days, 18 hours, 4 minutes's ago.)

It’s an interesting to think ‘what is coming next’, for me I can’t see a time where Google didn’t dominate the internet but now I’m starting to think again...

In the Past

Typically we have Google or MSN or Yahoo (or the like) as our home page. The internet was filled with HTML sites that offered us the ability to book holidays, buy clothes, find out about the world we live in and get expert opinions.

This is still the case but there may be a change on the horizon...

In the Future

How do past browsing trends comparing to current browsing trends? How could social networking have affected the way people use the internet?

For me it is interesting to think that more and more we are using Facebook, Twitter or Youtube. So more and more we are possibly not using Google, Yahoo and MSN...

Could this change the way companies get their message to us? Who gets to benefit from the social networking revolution?

I’m a big fan of Facebook (and many are). I use it to keep in contact with large groups of friends that are not always connected by a common theme. I got to the gym so there are people I like to keep up to date with from there, I also do Karate, talk with old school friends that are no longer in my area and much, much more.

Twitter allows me to follow the thoughts of people and organisations I like – I don’t need to search for news anymore; it is delivered to me in 140 character snippets.

When I want to find out how to do something I am more inclined to use YouTube to see if somebody has uploaded a video demo rather than search through reams of text based articles on how to do it!

So how is this or could this effect you? Those with big budgets are always going to be able to take advantage of new marketing opportunities, but I think the biggest opportunity is actually for local organisations.

Is the Big Bang Contracting?

The internet boom made the world our market place for everything we need, I can see a trend that suggests people will start to look in their local area for what they need – and to me there is the opportunity.

I have a rule of trying not to go over a single A4 page for my posts (knowing that I can procrastinate) so I’m going to leave it there. The next couple of entries I make will explore my thoughts on the internet and what to think about next!
